INEZ — Lawrence County finished runner-up to Johnson Central in the 15th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament at Martin County High School on Thursday, Oct. 13.
Johnson Central edged Lawrence County 2-1 in a shootout (penalty kicks) in the 15th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament title match.
Shawn Arms scored for Johnson Central in the region tournament title tilt.
Leading Johnson Central defensively from his goalkeeper position, Tate Cox registered eight saves while holding Lawrence County to one goal.
Blake Maynard scored off an assist from Andrew Vinson for Lawrence County in the region tournament title match.
Goalkeeper Ryland Brady led Lawrence County’s defensive effort, recording six assists while limiting Johnson Central to one goal.
The loss eliminated Lawrence County from the boys’ high school soccer postseason. Lawrence County exited the 2022 boys’ high school soccer season 11-5-2.

Lawrence County shut out Paintsville 10-0 in the semifinals of the 15th Region Boys’ Soccer Tournament at Martin County High School on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Blake Maynard led Lawrence County to the win, scoring eight goals for the Bulldogs.
Accompanying Maynard in Lawrence County’s scoring column, Landon Fairchild and Sergio Caballero Garcia netted one goal each.
Caballero Garcia dealt out two assists for Lawrence County while Maynard, Michael Preston, Aiden Mynhier, Andrew Vinson and Sam LeFever added one assist apiece.
Goalkeeper Ryland Brady recorded a shutout for the Bulldogs, recording two saves.
