EASTERN — Lawrence County finished runner-up to Floyd Central in the 58th District Baseball Tournament.

Pulling off an upset win, Floyd Central defeated Lawrence County 3-1 in the 58th District Baseball Tournament championship game on Wednesday, May 17.

Floyd Central captured its first district title.

Logan Moore claimed the win on the mound for tournament host Floyd Central. Moore pitched a complete game, limiting Lawrence County to one run while recording three strikeouts.

Lawrence County pitcher Will Lafferty suffered the loss on the mound. Lafferty pitched five innings, allowing three runs while recording five strikeouts.

Jacob Bentley led Floyd Central at the plate, belting a three-run homer for the Jaguars.

Along with Bentley’s leading performance, Koen Reeves, Nick Rackey and Logan Meade delivered one hit apiece for the Jaguars.

Rackey and Meade each doubled for the Jaguars.

Lafferty (one hit), Collinsworth (one hit, one RBI) and Dylan Whitt (one hit) each produced at the plate for Lawrence County in the district championship game.

Both Floyd Central (15-15) and Lawrence County (18-11) advanced to the 15th Region Baseball Tournament.
