Bulldogs drop home game to North Laurel

LOUISA — North Laurel prevented Lawrence County from remaining unbeaten, shutting out the Bulldogs 21-0 at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium on Friday, Sept. 19.
The Bulldogs hosted the Jaguars for a non-district game.
Following the loss, Lawrence County slipped to 3-1.
North Laurel (3-1) produced through the air and on the ground. The Jaguars rushed 46 times for 232 yards and one touchdown. Cooper Robinson paced North Laurel on the ground, rushing 20 times for 120 yards.
Following Robinson in North Laurel’s rushing attack, quarterback Jude McWhorter took 14 carries for 50 yards.
Reaching the endzone via the ground in North Laurel’s win, Bryson Nantz rushed nine times for 45 yards and one touchdown.
Delivering through the air, McWhorter completed six passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns.
Nantz and Cam Anderson each hauled in one touchdown pass reception for the Jaguars.
Defensively for North Laurel, Ryse Sutton posted eight tackles.
Providing a lift in the Jaguars’ secondary, Evan Zarate recorded an interception.
Lawrence County managed to pick up 177 yards of total offense. Quarterback Luke Fetherolf paced the Bulldogs. Through the air, Fetherolf completed 15 passes for 101 yards. On the ground, Fetherolf rushed eight times for 45 yards.
Cameron Castle, Carlo Chicko, Andrew Ratcliff, Gray Derifield and Colton McDowell each hauled in multiple receptions for the Bulldogs.
Defensively for Lawrence County, Chicko tallied 19 tackles while Castle posted 12 tackles.
Delivering a turnover for Lawrence County, Braxton Davis recorded an interception.
Lawrence County is scheduled to visit newfound rival Letcher County Central for its Class 3A, District 8 opener on Friday, Sept. 26.
