Bulldogs drop district game to Pirates

LOUISA — Lawrence County suffered a setback as perennial state title contender Belfry pulled away to win 49-12 in a Class 3A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 4.

The Bulldogs slipped into the loss column after notching back-to-back wins over Harlan County and Estill County.

As a result of the loss, Lawrence County dropped to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 3A, District 8.

Belfry improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in Class 3A, District 8 after notching the win.

Starting strong, Belfry outscored Lawrence County 35-0 in the first half.

Belfry scored via offense, defense and special teams during the Class 3A, District 8 game.

Lawrence County was limited on the ground, rushing 17 times for 58 yards.

Quarterback Luke Fetherolf paced the Bulldogs. On the ground, Fetherolf rushed six times for 30 yards. Through the air, Fetherolf completed 15 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns.

Andrew Ratcliff and Kaden Johnson each hauled in one touchdown pass reception for the Bulldogs.

Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Magoffin County for a Class 3A, District 8 matchup on Friday, Oct. 11.
