Woman killed in Lawrence crash

LOUISA — A woman died Monday morning as a result of a two-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer on U.S. 23 in Lawrence County.

According to the Kentucky State Police Post 14 in Ashland, the victim, whose name was not released pending notification of family, was driving a car that was hit by the semi truck owned by Trimble Oil of Pikeville, when turning onto Ky. 3398 at the Fallsburg Road exit from U.S. 23 North.

The driver of the semi truck was transported to Three Rivers Medical Center to be evaluated, but officials said he was not seriously injured.

Highway District 12 advised motorists at the time of the crash that the U.S. 23 southbound lane at the intersection with Ky. 3398 at mile point 21.6 would be shut down for approximately an hour due to the collision.

KSP, Lawrence County Sheriff, Chuck Jackson, NetCare Ambulance Service and the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.

The identity of the victim was not released pending notification to the family.
