A Louisa man was killed early Monday morning, May 11, when the Toyota RAV he was driving crossed over the center line on Tolsia Highway in Fort Gay, WV and struck a semi-truck head on near the Cedar Heights entrance.
Witnesses who were traveling behind Braden Murry, said he was traveling on US 52 around 6 a.m. northbound when he began swerving off the side of the road and then back on the road several times before the collision occurred.
They reported to officers that they seen that Murry was heading straight toward the semi driven by Chris Kazee, also of Louisa and they held back because even though Kazee was doing everything he possibly could to avoid Murry, they knew the car was gonna hit the truck.
“We saw what was gonna happen and so we just slowed down and stayed back,” the witness said. “The truck driver did all he could to avoid the car even going off the road himself.”
Murry was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Boone County Coroner.
Family members said he was giving a friend a ride home that morning.
Kazee was not injured in the truck owned by Tim Yates that was used to haul coal. Kazee said he had just fueled up and was going after his first load when the accident occurred.
The highway was shut down for approximately four hours while reenactors from WV State Police went over the scene of the accident.
Fort Gay first responders received mutual aid from Louisa Fire Department and Prichard Ambulance Service.
Grandmother Mary Jane Allen said Murry was born April 10, 2005, to Tiffany LeAnn Allen and Kaleb Murry.
He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Tiffany as well as other loved ones.
Survivors include maternal grandparents Mary and P.T. Allen; J.P. and (Andrea Allen) nieces and nephews Hailey, Ryner, Jaxon, Sydney, Emily, Jude, Sierra and Mia.
Braden was a member of the fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi-Eta Chi Chapter.
He also leaves behind best friends Kara Parks, Chris Muncy and Dalton Harmon.
Arrangements for Murry are incomplete at press time, but a celebration of life is planned.
