The Muddy March 5-K Trail Run in Lawrence County held up to its name

What a great day!! Started out a little rough with the temperature in the 40/50’s, and rain, but that didn’t stop 15 brave people from coming out and participating in the Muddy March 5-K trail run in Lawrence County on Saturday, March 9.

Andy Johnson of Huntington, WV, was the first place winner, Ryan Brady of Louisa placed second and Andrew Delong of Louisa was third. The Lawrence County High School Art class designed and made the trophies.

The second phase of the event was a trail hike/cleanup. Amy Whelen has been out picking up trash along the trails at the lake. The Yatesville Lake Corp of Engineers staff came out with a boat and loaded all the trash onboard, then it was unloaded into a trash trailer from the Lawrence County Fiscal Court, who will then dispose of the trash.

The Lawrence County Health Department and Ashley Wilks Health Action Team and LC Tourism members assisted in the tent while events were going on.

Other clean-up days at the Lake are being planned in the future (will be announced in this paper and on Facebook).

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission and Fiscal Court co-sponsored the event Muddy March Trail Run.
