Martin Co. Grand Jury Issues Ten Indictments

INEZ — The Martin County Grand Jury issued 10 indictments on March 7.

•Ronda Salmons, 54, of Inez, is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment; third-degree assault of a police or probation officer; fourth-degree assault and menacing.

On or before Dec. 9, 2023, Salmons allegedly engaged in conduct that created a substantial danger to another, Kenny Crum; she physically assaulted or attempted to assault Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Sesco, while acting in the capacity of his office; she attempted to physically assault Martin County Constable Brad Preece, while he was acting in the capacity of his office and he placed Crum, Sesco and Preece in reasonable apprehension of imminent physical injury.

•Austin T. Jackson, 27, of Warfield, is charged in two indictments, with first-degree bail jumping.

On or before Dec. 21, 2023, Jackson allegedly after having been released from custody by the court upon the condition that he will subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with felony charges 21-CR-00040 and 21-CR-00041, he failed to appear at that time and place as ordered by the court for a bond revocation hearing.

•Martin Gillespie, 50, of Pilgrim, is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police; first-degree persistent felony offender; first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer; no registration plates and no or expired registration plates.

On or before Jan. 10, Gillespie allegedly disregarded signals and commands to stop given by Martin County Sheriff John Kirk while acting within the official capacity of his office and had reasonable suspicion that Gillespie had committed a crime, namely the intent to flee, avoid or elude his arrest; he is a previously convicted felon; he engaged in conduct which creates substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person, namely Martin County Sheriff John Kirk and he operated a motor vehicle upon a Kentucky roadway without proper registration plates as defined in KRS 186.170.

•Dennis Allen Maynard, 38, of Lovely, and Jeremy Jarvis, 38, of Inez, are charged with third-degree burglary. Jarvis is additionally charged with second-degree persistent felony offender.

On or about Sept. 5, 2023, Maynard and Jarvis, acting alone or in complicity with each other knowingly and unlawfully entered a garage owned by Kaitlyn Ward located in the Pilgrim community of Martin County with the intent to commit the crime of theft and Jarvis is a previously convicted felon.

•Dennis Allen Maynard, 38, of Lovely, is charged in a second indictment with second-degree assault and second-degree criminal trespassing.

On or before Sept. 16, 2023, Maynard allegedly intentionally assaulted David Grace of Lovely causing physical injury to Grace by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument and he unlawfully entered and remained on Grace’s property located in the Lovely community of Martin County.

•Jeremy Jarvis, 38, of Lovely, is charged in a second indictment with first-degree burglary; second-degree persistent felony offender and theft of two stolen credit/debit cards.

On or before Nov. 20, 2023, Jarvis allegedly entered the dwelling house of Scott and Diana Siegel of Lovely with the intent to commit a crime therein, namely theft, while in the dwelling house or in the immediate flight therefrom was armed with a deadly weapon; he is a previously convicted felon and he was in possession of two or more credit or debit cards belonging to Scott Siegel and Diana Kay Triplett Siegel.

•Zachary Delong, 27, of Debord, is charged with first-degree bail jumping.

On or before Jan. 18, Delong, after having been released from custody by the court under the condition that he would subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with a felony charge 23-CR-00056, he failed to appear at that time and place as ordered by the court for a sentencing hearing.

•Ersel Crum, 54, of Inez, is charged with first-degree bail jumping.

On or before Nov. 2, 2023, Crum, after having been released from custody by the court under the condition that he would subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with a felony charge 23-CR-00079, he failed to appear at that time and place as ordered by the court for a pre-trial conference.
