The Lawrence County Fiscal Court met in yet another special session on Monday, Oct. 26, to discuss finances and set spending. This time magistrate and future Judge Executive Rick Blackburn brought forth a motion to set spending limitations on asphalt making it $12,000 per month, gravel $15,000 per month and fuel $25,000 per month, this will not affect a situation that would be considered an emergency.
Magistrate John Skaggs quickly seconded the motion while the other two magistrates voted yay. The court plans to revisit this issue in a few months.
The court also made an exception on the annual “Christmas for Kids” expense that they say will continue this year without being affected.
The Lawrence County E-911 raises that were voted on were clarified during the meeting that newly hired dispatchers will get the $16 per hour, trained dispatchers $17 and after the two-year contract is fulfilled the pay will increase to $18 and any additional pay that has increased by that period of time. There was some confusion with people who thought the dispatchers were eligible for the $18 at the time they signed the two-year contract so it was clarified that they weren’t eligible until that contract was fulfilled.
The next regular scheduled monthly meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 24.
