A single vehicle accident lands a West Virginia woman in jail and a man from Lexington in the hospital with charges pending his release.

According to an arrest citation by Lawrence County Sheriff Deputy Tyler Laney on Saturday, Oct. 3, around 3:30 p.m., he responded to the 9000 block of North Highway 201, in the area of Webbville, regarding a single-vehicle accident with reported injuries.

The citation stated that when the deputy arrived, he made contact with Kimberly L. Fowler 33, of Fort Gay, WV, along with her 21 month-old daughter near the vehicle.  After speaking with her, he then began assisting Webbville Fire Department in rendering emergency aid to the driver, Larry Dunn 38, of Lexington. “Once we got him on the back board, Larry was complaining of severe leg pain,” noted the deputy. “I went and got my clothing sheers and began cutting off his pant legs to see the extent of his injuries (as Dunn had to be extracted due to his legs being trapped underneath the dash). After I began working on cutting off the right pant leg, I noticed something large in his pocket. I went to retrieve the items and Larry resisted me and did not want me to get the items.” A press release by the LCSO stated while rendering aid, Deputy Laney observed and seized a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine on Dunn’s person. Dunn was transported by helicopter for medical attention due to injuries.

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded additional illicit substances believed to be Fentanyl, Heroin and Cocaine alongside paraphernalia items consistent with drug trafficking. In Fowler’s purse police found a small bag of methamphetamine and a bag of white powder substance along with a needle.

She was charged with wanton endangerment 1st degree, drug paraphernalia buy/possess, possession of CS 1st degree (drug unspecified), trafficking 1st offence (fentanyl). After being medically cleared at Three Rivers Medical Center she was lodged in The Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. Additional charges are pending for Dunn. The case remains under active investigation by Deputy T. Laney of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
