LOUISA — After taking a break in 2020 due to COVID-19, Lawrence County Septemberfest will hit the streets of Louisa this year for its 33rd celebration.

Known as the “Best Little Festival in Kentucky,” Septemberfest will be held Sept. 10-11, “unless something major happened that shuts the state down again,” festival chairman Harold Slone said.

The Septemberfest Board recently met and voted to hold the annual street festival, and applications are being sent out to food and craft vendors and letters to area businesses asking for their continued support to make this year’s event happen.

The festival will have the usual carnival, craft show and sales, live music on two stages, with performers to be announced at a later date.

The annual parade will be held on the Saturday morning of the festival down Madison Street as well as a car show, a window decorating contest, a 5-10 K walk-run, pageants and a fishing tournament at Yatesville Lake.

Septemberfest is the second annual fall festival to proceed with this year’s events. The Kentucky Apple Festival of Johnson County announced in April that the annual celebration in Paintsville will be Oct. 1-2.
