FRANKFORT — Lawrence and Martin counties would be moved into new districts under a Kentucky House redistricting plan unveiled last week.

The plan, which was expected to be filed as legislation Tuesday when the General Assembly convenes for the 2022 session, would place Lawrence County in the 100th House District and Martin County in the 97th District.

Lawrence County is currently in the 96th District along with Carter County, while Martin County is presently in the 93rd District with part of Pike County.

Under the redistricting plan, the 100th District would include Lawrence County and part of Boyd County, while the 97th District would consist of Martin and Johnson counties and part of Pike County.

The 96th and 93rd districts are currently represented by Patrick Flannery of Grayson and Norma Kirk-McCormick of Inez, respectively. Both are Republicans.

Republicans Scott Sharp of Ashland and Bobby McCool of Van Lear presently represent the 100th and 97th districts, respectively.

Under the proposal, Floyd County would remain in the 95th District along with part of Pike County. Demcrat Ashley Tackett Laferty of Martin currently represents the district.
