PAINTSVILLE — A Paintsville woman was arrested July 6 after the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a shooting situation at a residential complex on Mill Branch Road in Paintsville.
Shaundena Conley, 45, is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, disarming a peace officer, third-degree assault of a police officer or probation officer; resisting arrest and four counts of failure to appear.
Paintsville Police Captain John Holbrook said in a video posted on Facebook that when they arrived at the scene a truck had been shot and a female was sitting next to it.
“She didn’t want to cooperate at first, but entry was gained and a shotgun used in the incident was recovered,” Holbrook said. “She was taken to ARH to be medically cleared for minor injuries.”
A release issued by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said that Johnson County 911 Dispatch was notified of a shooting situation at approximately 6 p.m. last Wednesday and Paintsville Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office, Paintsville Fire/EMS Department and Johnson County Constable Bruce Ritz responded.
Entry was made into the shooter’s apartment and Conley, was taken into custody. No injuries were sustained from the discharge of the weapon, but property damage did occur, the release said.
Conley was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center by the Paintsville Police Department.
“I want to thank all responding agencies, each and every Law Enforcement Officer, Fire Fighter, EMT, Dispatcher, and anyone else that might have said a prayer for us during this situation,” Johnson County Sheriff Doug Saylor said in the release.
