Paintsville man indicted on murder charges for September shootings

PAINTSVILLE — A Paintsville man was indicted last Wednesday, Oct. 19, by the Johnson County Grand Jury on murder and wanton endangerment charges in an incident that left three people dead in September.

The indictment charges Ronnie R. Pack, 22, with three counts of murder in the shooting deaths of Myrtle Renee Pack, 36; Richard Morman, 56; and Paula Wells, 56, all of Paintsville, on Sept. 9.

He is also charged with first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly engaging in conduct that created substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to Kentucky State Police Det. Christopher Jason Dials.

According to a press release, KSP Post 9 received a call Friday regarding a shooting in Paintsville. KSP troopers and investigators responded to a residence on Depot Road and found that three individuals had suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of suspected foul play.

Ronnie Pack was identified at the time of the shooting and taken into custody, then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound before being lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.

Pack was one of 13 people named in indictments returned last Wednesday. Others were:

• Adam Minix, 46, of Salyersville, charged with flagrant non-support for allegedly failing to pay $5,797 in court-ordered child support to Victoria G. Mullins from July 1, 1997, through Sept. 30 of this year.

• Kayla Jones, 34, of Sitka, charged with flagrant non-support for allegedly failing to pay $5,627 in court-ordered child support to Wanda jones from Jan. 1, 2012, through Sept. 30 of this year.

• Carlos D. Barton, 32, of Tomahawk, charged in two separate indictments with flagrant non-support for allegedly failing to pay $2,658.34 in court-ordered child support to Kodie L. Ferguson from Dec. 1, 2010, through Sept. 30 of this year and $6,170 in court-ordered child support to Ada H. Barton from Dec. 1, 2011, through Sept. 30 of this year.

• William Mason Slone, 23, of Williamsport, charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree burglary criminal attempt for allegedly entering the home of Ruth Kingsley of Williamsport with the intent to commit theft while armed with a deadly weapon and attempting to enter and remain in the home on Sept. 19.

• Jim Justice, 37, of Betsy Layne, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) for allegedly possessing the drug on April 23.

• Tony Endicott, 57, of West Van Lear, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance for allegedly possessing the drug on Sept. 15.

• Jordan Dallas Tackett, 31, of Stambaugh, charged with fourth-offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs for allegedly driving under the influence on July 29 with three prior convictions within 10 years.

• Rebecca Daniel, 40, and Stephen Davis, 56, both of Paintsville, charged with human trafficking/complicity for allegedly, acting alone or in complicity with each other, subjecting a person to human trafficking in the form of subjecting the person to commercial sexual activity through the use of force, fraud and/or coercion on July 27.

• Brian T. Napier, 41, of Paintsville, charged with first-degree trafficking in methamphetamine, first-degree persistent felony offender, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license and having one headlight for allegedly possessing 6.55 grams of methamphetamine and $700 in cash with the intent to traffic or by trafficking in the drug, and operating a motor vehicle while his driver’s license was suspended or revoked, and with only one working headlamp on April 11.

• Christopher Prince, 51, of East Point, charged with fourth-offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, second-offense driving on a DUI-suspended license, first-offense failure of owner to maintain required insurance and no/expired registration plates for allegedly driving under the influence with three prior convictions, while his license was suspended and without the proper registration plates, and failing to maintain insurance on Sept.30.

• Angel L. Clark, 39, of Flat Gap, charged with first-degree assault, first-offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance/with death or serious physical injury and second-degree disorderly conduct for allegedly causing serious physical injury to Marshall S. Mikesell Jr. with a dangerous instrument, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in serious physical injury to the other driver, and engaging in violent or threatening behavior in a public place with the intent to cause public inconvenience, annoyance and/or alarm on Sept. 15.
