LOUISA — It’s Christmastime in the city of Louisa.
The holiday itself is still several weeks away, but dozens of events are planned in Louisa as the countdown to Christmas begins.
A tree lighting ceremony will be held on the Lawrence County Courthouse lawn in downtown Louisa on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 6:30 p.m., to kick off the holiday season. The event will include caroling, train rides for the kids and plenty of hot chocolate and cookies for the kids.
A family fun event, the 10th annual “Country Christmas” will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Lawrence County Community Center, located on Bulldog Lane, across from Lawrence County. Doors will open at noon.
The annual event will include a festival of trees, gifts for children, food, music and “lots of fun,” according to organziers. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also make an appearance.
Area churches, ministries, businesses and individuals help put “Country Christmas” on each year.
Santa will also be making an appearance at Masterpiece Café at 103 S. Main Cross St. Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m.-11 a.m., for “Cinnamon Rolls with Santa.” There will be a small fee for a cinnamon roll and hot chocolate. All children are welcome.
