National Fire Prevention Week activities being held in downtown Louisa
National Fire Prevention Week, is being held Oct. 6-12. During this week the Louisa Fire Department will be out in the community teaching fire safety, also during we will be going around to the schools teaching fire safety to the kids. You can also go to the following link www.fpw.org to download free information and tips on how to keep your family safe. On this site, you will find activities such as coloring pages, quiz’s, fire escape plans and e-books all free to help in teaching kids to be fire safe.
The public is invited to attend the following events to learn about fire safety and behind the scenes insights about the workings of their fire department.
“Open House” will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Louisa Community Center, located on Pike St., noon-4 p.m.
Events happening during the evening will include life fire safety demonstrations, fire engine rides, fun inflatables and Healthnet Aeromedical will have their helicopter on site. Sparky will also be there to greet the kids with fire hats and balloons.
Joe’s BBQ, H&K Love of Food and Triple C’s Coffee Truck will be on site selling food and drinks.
At the end of the event, there will be a drawing for door prizes such as smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and a bicycle for a boy and a girl.
