Martin County Woman Dies in a House Fire

PILGRIM — A Martin County woman died in a house fire Sunday morning and a male in the home was transported to an area hospital.

Mary E. Jude, 61, of Meathouse Road in Pilgrim, was pronounced deceased at 7:01 a.m. Sunday morning, April 28, by Martin County Coroner, Chris Todd.

Todd also said that a male in the home had been transported to an area hospital and that he had taken Jude to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The cause of the fire was still unknown, Todd said.

“The electric was out up there last night around 8 p.m.,” Todd said. “The Kentucky State Police and state fire marshal was there along with the Warfield and Inez Fire Departments.”
