Martin County Grand Jury Indicts Two

INEZ —The Martin County Grand Jury issued true bills for two people on Thursday.

Jamie McNeely, 32, of Lovely, is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading; first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer; first-degree wanton endangerment; second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot; failure to produce an insurance card and license to be in possession.

On or before Nov. 13, 2022, McNeely allegedly disregarded signals and commands to stop by Martin County Sheriff John Kirk, while he was acting in his official capacity; he engaged in conduct which creates substantial danger of death or serious injury to Kirk and another person, Amber Harmon and her three juvenile children; he disobeyed commands by Kirk to stop and fled on foot; he had no insurance card as required in KRS 304.39-117 and he operated a motor vehicle upon a Kentucky roadway without an operator’s license as required in KRS 186.510.

Chad Smith, 44, of Pilgrim, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse with a victim under 16-years of age.

On or before Dec. 22, 2021, through June 8, 2022, Smith allegedly knowingly and unlawfully subjected a child less than 16-years-old to sexual contact.
