Louisa to kick off Christmas season with parade and activities in park

The “Light Up Louisa” committee will be getting the Main Street Park ready for Christmas on Thursday, Dec. 5, setting up displays and hanging lights. Work will begin around 11 a.m. and will continue throughout the day. Your help is needed, if you would like to volunteer, send a private message on the Light Up Louisa Facebook page. The committee is also offering Christmas Memorial Luminaries for sale. They will then be displayed on Saturday, Dec. 14, during festivities at the Main Street Park, across from the library. This is event will be held following the annual Christmas parade which is at 7 p.m. This year the theme for the parade is “The Magic of Christmas.”
Memorial luminaries are $10 each and you can take them home at the end of the event. To order, private message on Light Up Louisa Facebook page with your name, phone number and email and total of luminaries needed. (1 name per bag), or call 606-638-7800.
Following the Christmas parade there will be holiday train rides at the Lawrence County Courthouse and a beautiful Christmas display on the lawn of the courthouse, a self-guided walking tour of downtown lights from Main Street Park to Main Cross St., there will also be photo ops for everyone at both locations.
Visit the life-size Gingerbread House in the Main Street Park and listen to some Christmas caroling. The Christmas memorial luminary display will also be at the park.
