LOUISA —The Louisa Police Department announced Monday that Jeremy Ray Burris was apprehended in Clarksville, Indiana on May 15 and that he will be extradited back to Lawrence County for first-degree burglary charges.

Burris, 33, is wanted in the armed robbery involving a knife April 27 at Walgreens in Louisa. Following the robbery, he drove away in a stolen vehicle, police said.

A release issued by the Louisa Police Department Monday said that Louisa Det. Hunter James received notice that Burris had been arrested by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana based on the warrant obtained by the Louisa Police Department. He will be extradited back to Lawrence County to face the first-degree burglary charge.

According to the original release following the robbery, the Louisa Police Department was dispatched to an armed robbery at Walgreens April 27 at 3:40 p.m.

“Walgreens employees advised the Lawrence County 911 Center that a white male with dark hair, white shorts and no shoes nor shirt had presented a knife, demanded various medications and then began fleeing the store but not before defecating on himself,” the release said. “The subject fled in an unknown direction in a 2002 purple/blue Nissan Xterra with license plate, WV 7SL910, which is linked with a theft complaint in Wayne County, W.Va.”

The case remains under investigation by James and Patrolman Teddy Newsome.
