Cause for Paws
The third annual Cause for Paws fundraiser was held
Saturday at the Lawrence County Community
Center in Louisa. The event raised approximately
$4,500 for the Lawrence County Humane Society.
Fundraising coordinator Helen Holt said the money
will be used for food, medications, utilities, or where
they see the most need at the time. “We did have a
major raffle for a Smoky Mountain Trip which was
won by Pedra Berenson of Oregon,” Holt said
Monday. “We raffled off a bike, won by Delphia
Fitzpatrick, and AirPod Pros, won by Sherry
Compton. A highlight of our event was a live
presentation by Andy McKee with Mountain State
Reptile Rescue. We had a petting zoo, line dancers
from Louisa Boot Scooting, Kenney Chaney was our
D.J .and his daughter, Kara, sang. All in all, we had
a great turnout for the event.” BSN photos/Brenda
