Louisa man dies in house fire

LOUISA — A Lawrence County man died in a house fire on Mattie Road on Wednesday, Feb. 17, and the fire marshal is investigating.

Michael Lee Sloas, 37, of Louisa, was a coal miner and is survived by his parents, Timothy and Rosemary Moore Sloas; a sister, Kristy Jarrell; a nephew, Shaun Jarrell; two uncles, Jay Anderson and George Anderson; and his grandmother, Frances Anderson.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Castle officiating.
