LOUISA — During their first-regular meeting of the year, the Louisa City Council approved to accept the same health insurance that they had used previously
A motion was made by Council woman, Rose Lester and seconded by councilman Caleb Farley, with all in favor.
City officials approved the first reading of Ordinance 15-02-3A, “Amendment to ordinance regulating the application for sale of alcoholic beverages and establishing license and fees.”
A motion approving the ordinance was made by Farley and seconded by councilman, Joey McClanahan, with all in favor.
The city council also approved the first reading of ordinance 2023-02A, “Amendment to ordinance relating to compensation of city employees, pursuant to KRS 83A.070.”
Lester made the motion to approve the first reading of the ordinance, which was seconded by councilman Keith Chaffin, with all in favor.
Louisa Mayor Harold Slone told the council that the 911 agreement was somewhat out of date, but that they fixed those things.
Slone explained that with the old agreement, the board would elect a chairman, but it’s been the county judge ever since.
“He is always there,” Slone explained. “There is also a $4 surcharge on land lines. The surcharge has always been there but it was $4. There aren’t too many land lines these days and they money they collect goes into their budget.”
In other business, the city council approved the minutes for the Dec. 12, 2023 regular meeting.
