LOUISA — Louisa city council members approved the second reading of an ordinance, an amendment to the ordinance regulating the application for sale of alcoholic beverages and establishing licenses and fees.
Louisa Mayor Harold Slone explained that the change would be to match the state.
A motion approving the amendment was made by councilman, Caleb Farley, seconded by councilman Joey McClanahan, with all in favor.
The city council also approved the second reading of another ordinance, an amendment to the ordinance relating to compensation of city employees pursuant to KRS 83A.070.
A motion to approve the ordinance was made by councilman Keith Chaffin, seconded by councilman Coty Roe, with all in favor.
Jim Bryant with Wells and Company presented the city council with their FY June 23 audit report.
The council talked about a resolution of the city of Louisa concerning the city road system.
Slone explained to the council that there are five roads that need to be fixed, but four of them don’t have the city’s numbers on them. He said that the city did what they needed to do, but they hadn’t yet taken care of it at the transportation cabinet. The council agreed to table the resolution till they could figure it out.
Slone had a purchase request with the opioid funds and said it would be used to purchase equipment and pagers for the fire department.
Chaffin made a motion to approve the request, which was seconded by Roe, with all in favor.
Slone explained that since the city attorney, Bud Adams wasn’t present for the meeting, he wanted him to look it over first.
The city council also voted to change their GPS from Verizon to WEX Telematics, with a motion from McClanahan, a second by Farley, with all in favor.
In other business, the city approved the minutes for Jan. 9.
