Louisa City Council holds special meeting June 26

The Louisa City Council met in special session Thursday, June 26 to hear the second readings of four ordinances of which they approved during that meeting.

The ordinances, that are in published in this edition of the Big Sandy News involve the City of Louisa 2025-26 budget, City Employee Compensation, Louisa Utility Budget and Utility Employee Compensation.

The council approved the year fiscal year budget during their regular meeting earlier in the month.

Also, during the meeting, it was announced that the Louisa Time Capsule project would be extended until Septemberfest during which time there will be a booth set up for anyone interested in purchasing an envelope to put in the time capsule for $20.

The envelopes for the project are 9X12 and can be filled with stories, letter, etc. and be placed in the time capsule to be read by whoever they have been addressed to be opened by 50 years from now in 2075.

Once an envelope is bought and filled by the purchaser it will be put in a vault (time capsule) and buried within the city limits and in 50 years it will be opened by a committee of current Lawrence County High School Seniors.

Cash and checks are accepted and should be made payable to The City of Louisa

All proceeds will be given to the city only for project use and any remaining funds will be kept by the city for improvements.
