Lawrence man arrested on child porn charges

ASHLAND —A Lawrence County man was arrested Aug. 26 by Kentucky State Police Post 14 in Ashland on charges related to a child pornography investigation.
Calvin Dale Workman, 55, is charged with 20 counts of possessing matter portraying a minor under the age of 12-years and one count of distributing matter portraying a minor over the age of 12-years in a sexual performance.
A release issued by the Kentucky State Police said that KSP Post 14 and the Ashland Police Department began the investigation after discovering Workman sharing sexually explicit images online. Workman was located, interviewed and arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.
The KSP release said a search warrant was executed at a residence in Lawrence County on Aug. 26 and that equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and will be taken to Ashland Police Department’s forensic team for examination.
The investigation is ongoing by KSP Det. David Boarman.
The release also said the charges are Class C felonies punishable by five to 10 years in prison for each count.
After being taken into custody, Workman was transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Johnson County.
