Lawrence County Grand Jury hands down 17 indictments

The Lawrence County Grand Jury met Thursday, May 22, resulting in 17 true bills that included various crimes including one where a Blaine woman is charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000. According to the indictment on Dec. 20, 2024, Kimberly Spears, 39, of Brushy Creek, committed the offense of unlawfully taking multiple items of jewelry valued at $43,784.90, along with a men’s ring valued at $1,200, a men’s wedding band valued at $1,600, a ladies wedding band valued at $1,600, a ladies school ring valued at $400, a men’s high school ring valued at $500, a men’s diamond tie back valued at $100, silver dollar coin case valued at $20, three rolls of quarters worth $30 and $60 cash monies from Gene Wilson of Louisa, total loss to the victim $50,094.90.

*James T. Howell, 29, (homeless), was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance when on March 3, he was unlawfully in possession of methamphetamine.

*Cody L. Maynard, 25, of Louisa, was charged with theft by unlawful taking when on Nov. 23, 2024, he committed the offense of unlawfully taking a 2004 Ford Taurus owned by Helen Church of Blaine with a value of $1,859.

*Travis M. Dingess, 41, (homeless), was charged with two counts of 1st degree possession of a controlled substance, 2nd degree possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia when on March 15, he was found to be in possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, ketamine, scales and four syringes.

*Arbie Young, 64, of Louisa, was charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and falsely reporting an incident when on Jan. 15, he was unlawfully in possession of a Heritage Arms .22 caliber handgun after having been previously convicted of a felony in Lawrence Circuit Court. Young also unlawfully reported an incident to law enforcement an incident within their official concern knowing that it did not occur.

*Tabitha Watts, 45, of Louisa was charged with 1st degree possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia when on Nov. 1, 2024, she was found to unlawfully be in possession of methamphetamine, glass pipes and scales.

*Patrick Williamson, 54, of Louisa was charged with 1st degree possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia when on Nov. 1, 2024, he was found to unlawfully be in possession of methamphetamine, glass pipes and scales.

*Charles Morris, 18, of Louisa, was charged with wanton endangerment 1st degree, assault 4th degree and carrying a concealed deadly weapon when on May 15, he unlawfully engaged in conduct that created substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to a juvenile. The indictment also states that Morris caused physical injury to the juvenile and committed the offense of being in possession of a concealed .9mm Glock handgun.

*James Boyd, 41, of Louisa, was charged with 1st degree possession of a controlled substance when on Jan. 16, he was unlawfully in possession of methamphetamine.

*Gary Clay, 64, of Louisa, was charged with 1st degree possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle on suspended/revoked license, failure to wear seatbelt and disregarding a stop sign when on Feb. 9, he was unlawfully in possession of methamphetamine and driving without a license.

*Desirae Boysel, 36, of Louisa, was charged with 2nd criminal possession of a forged instrument in complicity with Daniel Chapman, 31, also of Louisa.

Both indictments state the pair were unlawfully in possession of a forged check drawn on the account of Mr. Samuel Mattox of Louisa, in the amount of $600 with the intent to defraud.

*Jamie Spaulding, 48, of Kermit, WV., was charged with 3rd degree burglary and 1st degree possession of a controlled substance in complicity with Tena D. Barber, 57, also of Kermit, WV. The indictment states on May 2, he unlawfully entered Walmart of Louisa after being banned from the premises Dec.17, 2024, with the intent to commit the crime of theft therein.

Both he and Tena are also indicted for the complicity charge of being in possession of methamphetamine.

*Donald Delong Jr., 46, of Louisa, was charged with 1st degree possession of a controlled substance when on March 14, he was unlawfully in possession of methamphetamine.

*Michael Rivera, 52, (homeless), was charged with assault in the 3rd degree (police officer), resisting arrest and public intoxication excluding alcohol when on April 23, he committed the offense of assaulting or attempting to assault Deputy Joe Osborne with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office while acting in his official capacity. The indictment also states Rivera was disregarding several verbal commands attempting to prevent being placed under arrest and was manifestly under the influence of a controlled substance.

-Jeremy Damron, 42, of Georgetown, was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 (auto), theft by unlawful taking over $1,000<$10,000, persistent felony offender and 2nd degree criminal mischief when on April 18, he unlawfully committed the offense of taking a 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer owned by Steven Holbrook of Louisa, with a value of $3,659. The indictment states that Damron also committed the offense of taking a Saint Croix Musky Fishing Rod with an Okuma reel valued at $600, a Shakespeare brand Ugly Stick Rod with an Abu Garcia reel valued at $328, a Daiwa spinning rod and reel combo valued at $120, a tackle box valued at $100, and a carton of Marlboro cigarettes valued at $80 from Steven Holbrook. Damron is also accused of unlawfully damaging, destroying or defacing property owned by Holbrook, with the amount of damages not exceeding $500.
