Annual banquet held May 22 in Louisa for Farmers Appreciation and Leader Recognition Banquet

Thomas Bradley Chairman of the Lawrence County District Board along with Beverly Scarberry, Louisa Rotary Club President (who co-sponsored the event), welcomed everyone to the annual Farmer Appreciation and Leader Recognition Banquet on May 22, at the Lawrence County Extension office.
Lawrence County Board of Education Katie Webb was the guest speaker.
The John Marvin Boggs family was honored for 90 plus years of continued farming as the “Pioneer Family Farm” for 2025. Several family members attended to accept the award.
The extension also honored their outstanding leaders for 2024. Winner of the Agriculture/Natural Resources award went to Leslie Boyer; Family and Consumer Sciences went to Peggy Workman; 4-H Youth Development went to Carey Miller; and Community and Economic Development went to Ashley Wilks.
John E. Sparks, retired ANR Lawrence County Agent who recently passed away had one of the buildings on the property named in his honor to the “The John E. Sparks Pavilion.”
A delicious meal was catered was by Rebel Barn.
