Lawrence County Fiscal Court sets county tax rates in specially called meeting

The Lawrence County Fiscal Court met in special session Wednesday, Aug. 28, to set the county’s 2024 tax rates.

State of Kentucky-real estate 10.90.

Lawrence County-real estate 16.20, tangible property 16.20.

Lawrence County School-real estate 58.90, tangible property 58.90.

Lawrence County Public Library-real estate 11.40, tangible property 11.40.

Lawrence County Health District-real estate 6.00, tangible property 6.00.

Lawrence County Extension-real estate 8.20, tangible property 11.58.

Lawrence County Soil Conservation-real estate 2.40.

Louisa Area Fire & Rescue-real estate 3.00.

Lawrence County Fire Protection-real estate 3 cents per acre.

Lawrence County Fire Fee-real estate 25.00.

The scheduled collection dates for 2024 bills for the 2-percent discount will start Sept. 15 and run through Nov. 1.

The date for face value on tax bills will begin Nov. 1 and end Dec. 31.

A 5-percent penalty on tax bills will begin Jan. 1, 2025 until Jan. 31 and beginning Feb. 1 that penalty will rise to 21-percent until April 15.

The motor vehicle rate remains at 16.40 and has been that same rate since 1983.
