PAINTSVILLE — A Johnson County couple lost their home and vehicles in a fire early Saturday morning, according to a Facebook post by Kirk Law Firm.
The Red Bush Volunteer Fire Department said in a Facebook post that it was called out about 1 a.m. Saturday to the home of Jordan and Misty Compton, where firefighters found a fully involved house along with two vehicles parked close to the structure.
Kirk Law Firm said Misty Compton is District Judge Bret Butcher’s assistant and her sister, Cecily, is a long-time employee of Kirk Law Firm.
“We want to help this family begin rebuilding their lives,” the law firm said in a Facebook post.” Please feel free to drop off any monetary donations, gift cards or new/gently used clothing, shoes and coats at our office on US 23 or at our Prestonsburg location. Once they find permanent housing, we may post other needs.”
Misty Compton said the family is “humbled by the amount of people that have reached out offering to help.”
“There’s been several who have asked our clothing sizes, and at this time we have the basics with minimal space,” she said on her Facebook page. “All loving offers are appreciated more than any of you will know but we’re good for now. The boys have a wardrobe at their dad’s so they’re good, they won’t be able to stay with us for a little while. PLEASE ensure your smoke detectors are working properly ours literally saved our lives, within one minute of ours going off our entire house was engulfed. Thank the Lord for watching over us last night. Thanks everyone for every call text and offer. We love you all!!!”
She also thanked the Red Bush Volunteer Fire Department.
“Although there was nothing, they could do to save our house, they were able to save Jordan’s work van. They got there so fast considering where we live. Thank you, guys, so much.”
