Johnson County Grand Jury Indicts Nine in July Session

The Johnson County Grand Jury met in their July session resulting in 9 true bills including:
•Ricky Jarrod Hale, 42, of Staffordsville, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree, operating a motor vehicle under the influence when on March 13, he unlawfully committed the offense of being in possess of 2.694 grams of methamphetamine and committed his first offense of being in physical control of a vehicle while being under the influence of alcohol or anything else altering his ability to drive.
•Hunter Scott, 42, homeless, was charged with burglary 2nd degree, persistent felony offender when on May 2, he unlawfully committed the offense of entering a dwelling owned by Jonathan Shaw with the intent to commit a crime therein.
•Brian Chase Cantrell, 33, of Paintsville, was charged with assault 1st degree, assault 2nd degree when on April 24, he committed the offense of intentionally causing injury to Michael Butcher and Johnna Desanzo, both of Offutt, by means of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument.
Cantrell who is currently incarcerated at BSRDC was also charged in a separate indictment with receiving stolen property over $10,000 (auto) when on Oct. 5, 2024, he committed the offense of being in possession of a 2013 Toyota Tacoma stolen from Crace’s Wrecker Service Service with the approximate value of $16,200.
•Justin E. Crum, 37, of Paintsville, was charged with promoting contraband 1st degree, persistent felony offender when on May 21, he unlawfully committed the offense of introducing, obtaining or possessing a controlled substance into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center namely Buprenorphine.
•Carlie Ashley, 33, of Van Lear, was charged with (2) counts tampering with physical evidence when on Sept. 12, 2024, she unlawfully and with the belief an official proceeding is pending or may be instituted, destroying, mutilating, concealing, removing or altering physical evidence namely a cellphone and emergency contraceptive pills which she believed would be used in the official proceeding and did so with the intent to impair its availability in the official proceeding.
•Alesha Gamble, 37, of Paintsville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance 1st degree and public intoxication when on May 4, she committed the offense of being in possession of methamphetamine and being manifestly under the influence of a controlled substance in a public vicinity.
•Michael Marcum, 52, currently BSRDC, was charged with failure to comply with sex offender registry, 1st degree persistent felony offender.
•Cameron Mollett, 24, currently BSRDC, was charged with bail jumping 1st degree, persistent felony offender.
