PAINTSVILLE — A man was hit by a CSX train near Hager Hill Friday and was initially transported by ambulance to Paintsville ARH Hospital, according to Johnson County Deputy Coroner Harry Frisby.
Frisby said the coroner’s office wasn’t notified right away and that he only knew that the victim had been pronounced dead at a hospital.
Robbie Dwayne Shepherd, 41, of Hager Hill, died on Saturday at Pikeville, according to his obituary.
Johnson County Sheriff Doug Saylor said his office did respond to the scene and that the investigation is being handled by the railroad law enforcement.
“Apparently, he was walking along the tracks,” Saylor said. “No vehicle.”
Additional information regarding the incident wasn’t available at press time.
