FRANKFORT —Governor Andy Beshear was sworn in for his second term as Governor on Dec. 12. The public swearing-in was held on the Capitol steps after which he gave his inaugural address to the people of Kentucky.

Beshear said in his inaugural address that over the next four years, we will continue our record- breaking economic win streak and create the good paying jobs that will provide bright and promising futures for every single Kentucky child.

Beshear also committed to investing in educators, to continue building impossible infrastructure projects and to run high-speed internet to every home.

“We will keep our promise to counties and communities devastated by natural disasters by not just rebuilding, but revitalizing,” Beshear said. “Your Lieutenant Governor and I will be there personally, every step of the way. We love you and we will get the job done.”

Lawrence County native, Tyler Childers, recently nominated for five grammy’s, performed for Beshear during his inauguration on the steps of the Kentucky State Capitol building in Frankfort.

The theme of the event was ‘Forward Together.’

Inauguration events included a breakfast reception at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History at 8:30 a.m.; Worship service at the First Christian Church at 9:30 a.m.; the Parade from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the Inaugural prelude on the Capitol steps at 1:30 p.m.; the swearing in at 2 p.m.; the Grand March in the Capitol rotunda at 6 p.m. and the Inaugural Ball on the Capitol grounds, which was a ticketed event from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

As part of the inauguration, the governor and First Lady Britainy Beshear recognized the winners of a ‘Forward Together’ poster contest for children. Winners were invited to the Capitol where their artwork is being displayed.
