LOUISA — U.S. Marshals, Louisa Police Department and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office worked together in the apprehension of a Louisa woman on Tuesday.

Danuell Marcum, 50, was sought on multiple charges, a release from the Louisa Police Department said, including being a fugitive from justice in Kentucky and two counts of a controlled substance, manufacture, deliver, or possess with the intent to deliver a scheduled I, II, or III substance in West Virginia.

Marcum had been the subject of an intensive investigation, with law enforcement officials working tirelessly to locate and apprehend her, the release said and the collaboration between federal and local law enforcement agencies proved instrumental in bringing Marcum to justice.

“Our agencies remain committed to working together to address criminal activity and uphold the rule of law,” Louisa Police Chief Greg Fugitt said. “The arrest of Danuell Marcum underscores our dedication to serving and protecting the residents of Louisa and Lawrence County.”

Marcum was lodged in the Big Sandy Region Detention Center where she awaits extradition and she will face charges related to her alleged involvement in the manufacture, delivery, or possession of controlled substances, as well as the charge of being a Fugitive from Justice in Kentucky.
