Drug Charges abound in Martin County indictments

Martin County Grand Jury handed down 8 true bills during their September session most including various drug charges.

Among those indicted was Danny Mollett, 47, of Inez.

Mollett was charged with 1st degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession/use of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication when on June 5, Mollett committed the offense of unlawfully being in possession of methamphetamine, unlawfully destroying, removing, altering or concealing physical evidence he believed would be used against him in an official proceeding, Mollett was also charged with being in possession of altered straws and an altered pipe. He was also found to be manifestly under the influence of a controlled substance to the degree he may endanger himself, or other persons, or property or reasonably annoy persons in his vicinity.

•Christopher Muncy, 35, of Tomahawk, was charged with (2) counts of 1st degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving and all-terrain vehicles violations when on June 15 he committed the offense of unlawfully engaging in conduct which created a substantial danger or serious physical injury or death to another, namely two juvenile children.

Muncy also committed the offense of recklessly operating a motor vehicle upon the roadways of the Commonwealth of Kentucky without due regard for the safety of pedestrians and other vehicles and unlawfully operating ATV on the roadways of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

•Shawn Hopkins, 30, of Inez, was charged with fleeing/evading 2nd degree, reckless driving when on June 3 he committed the offense of unlawfully disregarding signals and commands to stop given by Sheriff John Kirk with the MC Sheriff’s Office in an attempt to flee also committing the offense of recklessly operating a motor vehicle upon the roadways of the Commonwealth of Kentucky without due regard for the safety of pedestrians and other vehicles.

•Eddie Goble Thornton, 62, of Louisa, was charged with (5) counts of wanton endangerment when on April 29 he committed the offense of unlawfully engaging in conduct which created a substantial risk of danger of serious physical injury or death to another, namely Gail Goble, Courtney Preece, Cory Preece and two juveniles.

•Jeffrey Scott Williams, 31, of Kermit, WV, was charged with 2nd degree fleeing/evading when on February 6 he committed the offense of unlawfully disregarded signals and commands to stop given by Sheriff John Kirk with the MC Sheriff’s Office in attempt to flee.

•Douglas Sparks, 56, of Dingess, WV, was charged with 1st degree bail jumping when on July 17 he knowingly and unlawfully having been released from custody by the court with or without bail upon condition that he/she will be subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with a felony charge and failed to appear at that time, namely an arraignment.

•John Allen, 37, of Debord, was charged with was charged with 1st degree bail jumping when on June 5 he knowingly and unlawfully having been released from custody by the court with or without bail upon condition that he/she will be subsequently appear at a specified time and place in connection with a felony charge and failed to appear at that time, namely a pre-trial conference.

•Bryon H. Marcum, 61, of Lovely, was charged with 1st degree wanton endangerment and assault in the 4th degree when on May 31 he committed the offense of unlawfully engaging in conduct which created a substantial danger to another namely Ronda Marcum. Marcum is also charged with committing the offense of assault when he caused physical injury to a juvenile.
