44 year old business destroyed by fire
At approximately 1:19 a.m., Thursday morning, Sept. 24, Oil Springs Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to KY-40 West in Staffordsville, for a confirmed commercial structure fire. Upon arrival it was found that Conley Tire was fully involved. The business was owned by Chris Conley.
An immediate request was initiated for mutual aid from WR Castle Fire and Rescue and Rockhouse Fire and Rescue for Engine, Tanker and Manpower. Also requested help from Paintsville Fire Department for Aerial Support and Manpower.
Downed power lines were also reported. Foothills Communications worked thru the night and replaced affected fiber optic cables.
The fire was brought under control around 3 a.m. with overhaul operations starting at 4 a.m. Complete extinguishment was completed by 7 a.m., allowing KY-40 to be reopened for morning travel.
