$2,000 reward offered in Oil Springs armed robbery

OIL SPRINGS — A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who entered an Oil Springs residence early Saturday morning armed with a gun and left with several items. The man, who was dressed completely in black and wore a black mask, represented himself as a law enforcement officer who was at a home on Rt. 580 as part of an ongoing investigation, according to Johnson County Sheriff Doug Saylor. Saylor declined to identify the family but confirmed their identity after asked by a reporter if they were the victims.Travis and Alexandra Paige Caudill were awakened early Saturday morning by a noise in their home. When they walked into the living room, they saw the man, who also wore a duty belt and a lapel microphone.He told the couple he was there as part of an investigation, but the couple told him he was in the wrong house, Saylor said.The man then looked at their IDs and sent them into another room while he looked around, Saylor said. He told them that his sergeant would be in later to talk to them, Saylor said.The suspect left the residence with several items, the sheriff said. He was driving a silver or white sedan.The mask and a red and black Budweiser cap were found in the yard. Alexandra Caudill said on her Facebook page that the man also pointed a gun at their faces during the incident. The gun is believed to be an AR-15 rifle, Saylor said. The man is described as being in his early to mid 30s with his hair shaven bald, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 230 pounds.Anyone with information about the suspect should call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 606-789-3411, or message Alexandra Paige Caudill on Facebook.
