15 indictments returned by Lawrence County Grand Jury

LOUISA — The Lawrence County Grand Jury returned 15 indictments May 26.

Named in the true bills were:

• Jaime F. Alvaro Jr., 38, of Chesapeake, Ohio, charged with first-degree bail jumping for allegedly failing to appear in court for a pre-trail conference on Nov. 21, 2021, after having previously been ordered to do so.

• Jacob Crockett, 20, of Hurricane, W.Va., charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 (auto), theft by unlawful taking under $1,000 (contents of vehicle) and license to be in possession for allegedly taking a 2001 Toyota Avalon owned by Whitney Spaulding of Louisa, with a value exceeding $1,000, and a pair of Under Armor boots owned by Spaulding; and operating a motor vehicle upon a Kentucky roadway without being in possession of a valid operator’s license on Jan. 31.

• Vondy Jude, 45, of Lowmansville, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and third-degree possession of a controlled substance for allegedly possessing

Methamphetamine and schedule IV and V controlled substances; and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or other substances that impair a driver’s ability to operate the vehicle on Dec. 13, 2021.

Jude is charged in a second indictment with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon for allegedly possessing a .9mm-caliber Hi Point handgun after having been previously convicted of a felony in Martin Circuit Court.

• Jonathan Young, 43, of Louisa, charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, greater than two grams; first-degree persistent felony offender; first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance; and second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot for allegedly possessing approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine and $695 in cash with the intent to traffic in the methamphetamine; possessing heroin; and disobeying commands to stop by Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy Mason Keefer who had a reasonable suspicion that he had committed a crime on Nov. 18, 2021.

• Jordan Begley, 29, of Louisa, charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, first-degree wanton endangerment and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs for allegedly being in

physical control of a motor vehicle upon a Kentucky roadway and disregarding signals and commands to stop given by Louisa Police officer Jeffrey Kirk with the intent to flee, avoid or elude his arrest; engaging in conduct that created a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to Kirk and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Music; and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or other substances that impair a driver’s ability to operate that motor vehicle on May 7.

• Steven Vanhoose, 33, of Stambaugh, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on March 26.

• Sabre Napier, 30, of Wittensville, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance for allegedly possessing methamphetamine on March 26.

• Jessica Borders, 37, of Louisa, charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, greater than two grams, and public intoxication for allegedly possessing 12.5 grams of methamphetamine and digital scales with the intent to traffic the methamphetamine; and being in a public place manifestly under the influence of a controlled substance or other intoxicating substance to the degree that she was a danger to herself or other persons or property or unreasonable annoying persons in her vicinity on April 27.

• Michael Pennington, 36, of Grayson, charged with theft by unlawful taking, over $10,000 (auto) and first-degree persistent felony offender for allegedly taking a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado owned by William Spradlin of Louisa, with a value exceeding $10,000, on Nov. 11, 2020, and for having previously been convicted of a felony.

• Kelly C. Collins, 44, of Louisa, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree persistent felony offender and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs for allegedly possessing methamphetamine; destroying, removing, altering or concealing physical evidence that he believed would be used against him in an official proceeding; operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or other substances that impair a driver’s ability to operate the vehicle on Nov. 21, 2021; and for having previously been convicted of a felony.

• Darin Conley, 36, of Louisa, charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedlhy possessing methamphetamine, an altered pipe and an altered straw on April 1.

• Windy Reaper, 47, of Webbville, charged with conspiracy to traffic in a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and use/possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly,

acting in commission with Harley Ratliff, deceased, with the intention of promoting or facilitating the commission of the crime of trafficking in methamphetamine; destroying, removing, altering or concealing physical evidence that she believed would be used against her in an official proceeding; and possessing digital scales and small plastic baggies on Nov. 30, 2021.

• Leann Dent, 36, of Kermit, W.Va., charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing methamphetamine and glass pipes on July 22.

• Tammy Jo Evans, 50, of Louisa, charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree persistent felony offender for allegedly entering a house located on Newcombe Lane in Louisa owned by Vela Lemaster with the intent to commit theft on Nov. 25, 2021, and for having previously been convicted of a felon.

• Jessica Shook, 40, of Blaine, charged with trafficking in marijuana, more than 8 ounces but less than 5 pounds, and use/possession of drug paraphernalia for allegedly possessing approximately 8.50 ounces of marijuana, a set of digital scales and a ledger documenting transactions with the intent to traffic in the marijuana and possessing three altered pipes containing residue on Dec. 16, 2021.
