UPIKE Swim Camp to be held at Paintsville Pool July 7-9

PAINTSVILLE — The UPIKE Swim Camp will be held at the Paintsville Pool July 7-9.

The camp will be conducted from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. each day.

A breakdown of the camp follows.

July 7: freestyle, freestyle drills, flip turns, starts.

July 8: backstroke, breaststroke, backstroke and breaststroke drills, starts and turns.

July 9: butterfly kicks, butterfly drills, relays and competition.  

The camp will be under the direction of UPIKE swimming head coach Bernie Haney.

A native of Paintsville, Haney has been guiding the UPIKE men’s and women’s swimming programs since 2022. Haney attended Pikeville College beginning in the late 1970s, becoming one of the best women’s basketball players in the PC hoops program’s history. She was a two-time All-KIAC selection and finished with over 1,100 career points throughout three seasons. She was inducted into the UPIKE Hall of Fame in 1999.

The cost of the swim camp is $100 per swimmer.
