Tolsia shuts out Richwood 32-0 in opener

FORT GAY, W.Va. — Tolsia dominated in a 2020 high school football season opener on Saturday, Sept. 5, pulling away to shut out visiting Richwood 32-0. With the win, Tolsia opened the 2020 high school football season 1-0.Richwood opened the 2020 high school football season 0-1 as a result of the loss. The Rebels took control early. Tolsia moved ahead in the first quarter of the season opener and never faltered. Running back John Wilson led Tolsia to the win, rushing 23 times for 134 yards and three touchdowns.Another key contributor offensively for Tolsia, Gavin Meadows rushed 11 times for 114 yards and one touchdown. Tolsia has 19 starters back from the 2019 high school football season. The Rebels compiled a 7-4 record in 2019 and pushed the state's top team. Eventual state champion Wheeling Central outlasted Tolsia 13-12 in the opening round of the 2019 West Virginia high school football postseason. Tolsia is scheduled to visit Braxton County on Friday, Sept. 11.
