BELFRY — Determined Paintsville blanked Belfry 3-0 in eight innings in a high school baseball game on Thursday, May 6.
After the game ended regulation scoreless, Paintsville erupted for three runs in the top half of the eighth inning.
Connor Fugate earned the win on the mound for the Tigers. Fugate pitched seven innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while recording 10 strikeouts and giving up two walks.
Baron Ratliff claimed the save for the Tigers. Ratliff pitched one inning, allowing one hit and zero runs while recording one strikeout.
Belfry pitcher Ashton Deskins suffered the loss on the mound.
Paintsville plated three runs on four hits.
Jonah Porter led the Tigers at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Contributing at the plate for Paintsville, Zach Taylor and Boston Crace added one hit apiece. Taylor drove in one run as the Tigers prevailed.
Steven Banks paced Belfry offensively, providing two singles for the Pirates.
Heping his pitching cause at the plate, Deskins singled once.
