LMS boys' basketball program concludes successful season

LOUISA - The Louisa Middle School boys' basketball program concluded a successful season, which included a conference runner-up finish, earlier in the month.
The LMS sixth grade team compiled an 11-2 record.
The LMS seventh grade team compiled a 9-3 record, finishing as the OVC Runner-up
The LMS eighth grade team compiled a 5-5 record.
A look at the LMS seventh grade team's journey to the conference runner-up finish follows.
Louisa 58, Simons 29
Louisa doubled up Simons 58-29 in the opening round of the OVC Large School Postseason Tournament on February 27.
The Bulldogs edged Simons 12-11 in the opening quarter. Lawrence County led 23-18 at halftime and stretched its lead after the intermission period. Lawrence County led 45-21 at the conclusion of the third quarter.
Braxton Davis led Louisa to the win, finishing with 17 points, seven steals, five rebounds, three assists and one block.
Gunnar Woods followed for the Bulldogs, adding 12 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals.
Carlo Chicko contributed 11 points, two rebounds, two steals, two assists and one block for the Bulldogs.
Rounding out the Bulldogs' individual scoring, Hayden Perry added eight points as well as eight rebounds and two steals.
Chipping in for Louisa, Ty Brooks and Weston Vanhorn pulled down five rebounds apiece.
Louisa 46, Mason County 34
Louisa battled back from behind to beat Mason County 46-34 in the semifinals of the OVC Tournament on March 1.
Mason County led 9-5 at the conclusion of the initial quarter.
Remaining out in front, Mason County led Louisa 14-10 at halftime.
But the Bulldogs battled back to lead 27-22 at the conclusion of the third quarter and finished strong to pull away to win convincingly.
Braxton Davis (15 points, four assists, two steals, two rebounds), Hayden Perry (14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal), Weston Vanhorn (10 points, nine rebounds), Carlo Chicko (five rebounds, two points), Ty Brooks (six rebounds, one point, one assist, one block), Tylan Perry (four points) and Owen Pack (four rebounds, one block) each contributed for Louisa in the win.
The victory allowed the Bulldogs to advance to the conference championship game.
Ashland 44, Louisa 27
Louisa fell short as Ashland prevailed 44-27 in the OVC Tournament title game on March 4.
Number one seed Ashland edged second-seeded Louisa 8-7 in the opening quarter. After limiting the Bulldogs in the second period, Ashland led 21-11 at halftime.
Staying out in front, Ashland led 31-22 at the end of the third quarter.
Braxton Davis (12 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal), Hayden Perry (13 points, three rebounds), Weston Vanhorn (five rebounds, two points), Ty Brooks (three steals, two rebounds, one block, one assist) and Owen Pack (three rebounds, one block, one assist) each contributed for the Bulldogs.
