LCHS falls to Johnson Central in 15th Region Tournament Semifinals

BELFRY — Lawrence County came up short as Johnson Central prevailed 13-8 in the semifinals of the semifinals of the 15th Region Softball Tournament at Massey Energy Field on Tuesday, May 31.
The loss eliminated Lawrence County from the 15th Region Softball Tournament.
Johnson Central pitcher Maddie Vaughn claimed the win in the circle.
Allie Triplett took the loss in the circle for 58th District frontrunner Lawrence County.
Former 57th District rivals, Lawrence County and Johnson Central swapped leads early in the 15th Region Softball Tournament game. However, Johnson Central gradually pulled away to win.
Johnson Central outhit Lawrence County 14-10. As part of a balanced offensive attack, Johnson Central scored multiple runs in four different innings. \
Randi Delong drilled two doubles and collected four RBIs for Johnson Central in the victory. Along with Delong, Clara Blair (three hits, two RBIs) and Abigail Williams (two hits, one RBI) produced at the plate for the Lady Eagles.
Kensley Feltner (one hit, two RBIs), Gracie Preece (two hits) and Abby Nelson (two hits) assisted Lawrence County offensively in the tournament matchup.
Following the loss, Lawrence County exited the 2022 high school softball season 29-7.
Johnson Central advanced to meet Pikeville in the 15th Region Softball Tournament title game.
