Lawrence County soccer season openers scheduled

LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to host Greenup County in 2020 boys' and girls' high school season openers on Monday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively. Lawrence County swept the 2019 58th District boys' and girls' soccer titles. The Bulldogs edged Belfry 3-2 in the 2019 58th District Boys' Soccer Tournament title game. After capturing the 58th District championship, Lawrence County finished runner-up to Prestonsburg in the 15th Region Boys' Soccer Tournament. In a back and forth battle, Prestonsburg edged the Bulldogs 1-0. The Bulldogs concluded the 2019 boys' high school soccer season 10-6-2. The Lady Bulldogs beat Belfry 4-1 in the 2019 58th District Girls' Soccer Tournament title game. After claiming the 58th District crown, Lawrence County finished runner-up to Belfry in the 15th Region Girls' Soccer Tournament. Prestonsburg outlasted the Lady Bulldogs 4-5 in double overtime in the 15th Region girls' soccer title match. The Lady Bulldogs concluded the 2019 girls' high school soccer season 14-6-0. Each Lawrence County soccer team is preparing for its upcoming campaign.
