LOUISA  – The countdown to kickoff is officially underway as the Lawrence County Bulldogs held their first football practice of the 2025 season on July 14. With helmets strapped and energy high, the team took the field with focus and determination, setting the tone for what promises to be a competitive and thrilling season. Coaches and players alike are wasting no time, using every drill and rep to build chemistry and sharpen execution ahead of the Bulldogs’ two home scrimmages—against Russell Independent on Aug. 8 and Prestonsburg on Aug. 15.

After today’s practice, the Bulldogs are officially on the grind toward their Aug. 22, season opener at Martin County. The early schedule features a tough away stretch, including a bowl game at Garrard County on Aug. 29, before the Bulldogs return home during Septemberfest week to host Ashland Independent.

The team’s district schedule kicks off Sept. 26, at Letcher County, followed by a string of crucial matchups in October, including home games against Estill and Magoffin counties.

With their first practice in the books, the Bulldogs are hoping to ride a wave of community support all the way into the postseason. Regular season games will kick off at 7:30 p.m., and fans are encouraged to come out in full force to support their team.

As the sweat and effort from today’s practice signal the beginning of a new chapter, one thing is clear: Bulldog football is back and Lawrence County is ready.
