Johnson Central drops game to Ashland

ASHLAND — Johnson Central fell behind early and faltered late on the road at reigning 16th Region champion Ashland as the Tomcats prevailed 67-59 in a boys' high school basketball game on Monday, Jan. 11.
Ashland shot 48.9 percent (23-of-47) from the field in the loss. The Tomcats finished 8-of-21 (38.1 percent) from 3-point range.
Ashland shot 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the free throw line.
The Tomcats outrebounded the Golden Eagles 29-25.
Colin Porter led a balanced offensive attack for the Tomcats, scoring 20 points.
Accompanying Porter in double figures in scoring for Ashland, Cole Villers and Ethan Sellars added 13 points apiece.
Johnson Central shot 46 percent (23-of-50) from the field in the loss. The Golden Eagles were 6-of-12 from 3-point range, shooting 50 percent beyond the arc.
Johnson Central shot 58.3 percent (7-of-12) from the free throw line.
John King paced Johnson Central with a double-double, scoring 19 points and claiming 10 rebounds.
Cory VanHoose accompanied the Golden Eagles in double figures in scoring, posting 15 points.
