Horn steps down as Lawrence County head coach

LOUISA — Following the conclusion of the 2023 high school softball season, Kenny Horn has stepped down from his position as Lawrence County head coach.

Horn stepped away as one of the top high school softball coaches in the state. He spent 11 seasons, including the 2020 campaign, which was canceled prior to its opening game due to COVID, guiding the Lawrence County softball program.

Horn guided the Bulldogs to two 15th Region championships. Under the direction of Horn, Lawrence County claimed 12 district titles.

In Horn’s final season as head coach, Lawrence County captured the 58th District title and finished as the 15th Region Runner-up. The Bulldogs finished 27-13 in the 2023 high school softball season.

Over 17 years, Horn compiled a 241-126 record as Lawrence County head coach. He coached several standouts, including his daughter, Kendra Horn.

In mid-June, Kenny Horn coached in the Kentucky Prep East-West All-Stars Series. Kenny Horn was one of three coaches for the East Junior All-Stars.

Several experienced players are due to return to the field for Lawrence County in the 2024 high school softball season as a new coach will be guiding the team.
