Fort Gay hall of fame presentation slated for Sept 2

The Fort Gay High School Alumni Association recently announced the FGHSAA Sports Hall of Fame Inductees for 2022. The Induction presentation will take place during the annual Alumni Banquet on Friday, September 2, at the Louisa First Baptist Church Family Center, 301 Pike St. Registration begins at 5 p.m., program at 6 and dinner served at 6:45 p.m. Cost is $25 person/under 12 years of age, $10.

Inductees for 2022 are: Gerald “Jug” Bartram, Class of 1963 - Outstanding Quarterback in football and averaged over 20 points a game in basketball; Kenneth Sturgill, Class of 1963 - Co-Captain of football team and All Conference Honorable Mention in basketball; Jim Sturgill, Class of 1969 - All Conference and All Area Honorable Mention in football. Member of basketball, baseball, and track teams; Rick Wellman, Class of 1970 - All West Virginia Honorable Mention in basketball and member of track team; Jim Lycan, Class of 1971 - All State Honorable Mention in football. Member of basketball and baseball teams; Karl Adkins, Class of 1973 - All State Honorable Mention in football; Tronnie Boone, Class of 1978 - All State Honorable Mention in football and one of the state’s top scorers; Bryan Frasher, Class of 1983 - All State Honorable Mention in football and went on to play at Concord College; and Van Frasher, Class of 1987 - All State Honorable Mention in football and went on to play at West Liberty College. All County Honorable Mention in basketball.
