Cheyenne Hackett is Louisa Middle School’s only Gridiron Girl
By Erin Evans
Louisa Middle School football had a new player for the 2026 season and it’s not just any player, it’s a girl. She is the only girl on the team!
Cheyenne Tackett started out playing football this year because she wanted to condition to get better for other sports like track and basketball. Then as practice continued, she liked it more and more and eventually made the team and loved it even more. She plays safety, corner and receiver.
When asked how she was treated by the other coaches, she said, “It’s not much different, they treat me with respect and just the same as any other person.” Cheyenne also said “I love the quote, “Win The Rep” because that’s what her coaches are always saying to the team and she really likes it.
She is such a popular player, with not only with her teammates and coaches, but her classmates at Louisa Middle School go and cheer her on at the games and call themselves Cheyenne’s Fan Club!
Sadly, a couple of weeks ago, during a practice to prepare for a big game, Cheyenne had a season ending knee injury and will have surgery at the end of October. Hopefully after surgery and physical therapy, she will be able to try out and play for the high school football team next year.
Cheyenne is a wonderful kid that I got to know through youth sports and not only is she a tremendous athlete, excellent scholar, has a wonderful personality, and a true believer in God. We wish her a speedy recovery and best of luck at any sport she plays.
