Bulldogs to host Greenup County for home opener

LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to host Greenup County for its home opener in the 2022 high school football season on Friday, Sept. 2.

The Bulldogs and Musketeers are longtime rivals from bordering districts.

Lawrence County showed improvement throughout the 2021 high school football season, pushing the eventual Class 3A champion during the second round of the playoffs.

The Bulldogs pulled away to beat the Musketeers 34-7 during the 2021 high school football season.

Lawrence County, under the direction of Coach Alan Short, compiled an 8-4 record in 2021. The Bulldogs finished runner-up to eventual state champion Belfry in Class 3A, District 8 during the 2021 high school football season.

Greenup County concluded the 2021 high school football season 1-9. The Musketeers suffered a shutout loss to Class 3A, District 7 nemesis East Carter in the opening round of the 2021 Class 3A Playoffs. Head coach Zack Moore guides the Musketeers.

Lawrence County is slated to visit Harrison County for its opening game in the 2022 high school football season on Friday, Aug. 19.

The Bulldogs’ 2022 schedule consists of games versus Greenup County, Harrison County, Russell. Magoffin County, East Carter, Boyd County, Pike County Central, Belfry, Floyd Central and Raceland.
